Update on our group

9/4/2013

Today we had 6 knitters.  We spent some of our time doing our inventory.  We have 185 in our inventory after giving out 70 today.  Some of the ones we gave out today were sent to California to a Physical Therapist who is starting a group there, but already had several requests.  Our group was happy to help them start their inventory.

Just a reminder that knitting is not just a winter hobby. These prostheses are needed all year around, so knitting them doesn't stop in the hot summer months.  Many of our members knit while driving on their vacations.  The thanks we get from our users make all the effort well worth it.

The Bosom Buddies of the QCA had a delightful afternoon teaching a group of people, who want to learn to knit and make breast prostheses in honor of a deceased co-worker. What a nice way to remember her! You were all fast learners. Happy Knitting and thanks for inviting us.

While there hasn't been any action on this page lately, there is plenty of action in real life. Today we are sharing 2/3 of our inventory of prostheses in various sizes with two other groups, who desperately need help to fill the requests, they have received. These requests are partly due to the fact, that Barb Demorest from KnittedKnockers.org has been featured on her local FoxTV station explaining, what these prostheses are about, and she has also posted several videos on their Facebook page, showing how they are made. Our pattern is on our page here under Instructions, and WE ALSO WELCOME NEW KNITTERS ANY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BETWEEN 1:15 AND 3:15 pm. We provide prostheses to anyone, who requests them at our weekly meeting and also to several hospitals, oncologist's and surgeon's offices plus local support groups and more. We have a lot of fun together, and you will meet friends, you don't yet know.
