Here are a few comments from those who have received prostheses from the Bosom Buddies of the QC group:
"I wore my prosthesis all day yesterday at work and it was wonderfully comfortable. I actually forgot I had it on. First time I've felt so comfortable and light for a whole day in a long time. Thanks again for your understanding and thoughtful help. I can still see your smiling faces and I thank you again for all your precious work."
“Your wonderful products are being enjoyed by patients at the Internal Medicine Department of Stanford Hospital. My primary care provider was so intrigued by mine and was enthusiastic about how her breast cancer survivors would receive them. I delivered your box to her last week and got an email indicating her excitement. Again, thank you so much on my behalf and theirs for making our lives comfortable.”
“These are absolutely amazing. I love the softness, especially after quite a radical mastectomy. I love to swim and they are the “BEST of the BEST” for not moving or slipping up to my face.Went swimming today, and I was simply amazed. I know I can wear them outside the pool or in the pool. This will be great to use since I am going on a plane and have to go through security. No gel to worry about, or having a security person checking ‘the gel’ in my prosthesis. I would love to purchase more before my vacation in September. Please let me know how I would get two more sets. Thank you for your glorious work, and the thought process in putting these together. THANK YOU for all your hard work!”
“I received the package and I cannot say enough how grateful I am! Your product is SO amazing. I have a ton of nerve damage from my surgery and this does not irritate me one bit! They are perfect for me and fit the bra I purchased just fine. Again, THANK YOU! I am able to go in public again and not have the anxiety that I was having. Have a blessed day and please feel free to use my review for these. What an amazing job y’all are doing.”
“Bosom Buddy ladies ROCK!! Giving their time and talent for breast cancer patients/victims !! I THINK THAT IS JUST AWESOME !! LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE ONE !! Thanks again”
“I want you to know that I truly appreciate you and your knitting project. You can’t believe the weight that’s been lifted off of me!!
”Thank you so much for the prosthesis. It is amazing! It so lightweight, natural looking and comfortable, MUCH better than my silicone one! Thank you for providing such an invaluable service! “
“Just wanted to thank you again for the “Bosom Buddies”. The size fits perfect and they are so light and so easy to use. I just love them. You don’t know how much I appreciate your work.”
“Thank you for all you do for Breast Cancer survivors. God Bless You All. And thank you once again for making a difference in the lives of many women.”
” I am wearing my knitted knocker as I type this with my prosthesis bra. It works best with that bra. I simply LOVE the lightness of it. It seems a tad bumpy looking in my jog bra, but that is okay. I find that when I take away the heaviness that my silicone prosthesis added when wearing my prosthesis bra, I really don’t mind wearing it so much. I thank you and the whole knitting group again. My cousin and I have restarted up our walking regiment at the mall and because I feel much lighter now with your marvelous knitted knocker I am practically zooming around. Thank you all again, you dear ladies.”
"I experienced a really neat milestone in my life thanks to two River Isles residents, Tove Cravens and Joan Carlson. For any and all of you, who have had a mastectomy in the past, these girls have got the answer to “comfort for you!” The prosthesis given to me through my insurance company, I thought, did the trick; however, what these gals came up with, since that time, is unbelievable. No more do I have to put up with the expense, weight, hot and not so comfortable at times. Try one of the light weight, washable “Knitted Knockers!” You will be amazed, just as I have been!! No need for me to try to explain, as there are just no words to describe, how wonderful they are. Try them soon and find out for yourself. Once you are convinced, and you will be, do pass the word to others to enjoy. Don't wait, as comfort cannot come too soon."
"Thank you very much for the knitted prostheses you made for me. You and the others of Bosom Buddies provide a loving, wonderful service. I appreciate the softness and size flexibility of the prostheses. I will put them to good use between now and August whenI have my follow-up reconstructive surgery. Thanks for your wonderful work."
"I am in need of a refill order for knitted prosthesis in cup size C and D. The feedback so far has been phenomenal! All of my patient’s that have worn your knitted prosthesis are raving about them! "
Comment from a Danish person, who just read about these prostheses in a Danish magazine.
"I can't believe, that there is a group such as this one. It was wonderful news to me, when I read the article in my new magazine.
During three different operations in 2010 and 2011 I had both breasts removed and have since used silicon prostheses and all the consequences thereof, including hot flashes, skin problems, and shoulder pains. But I am grateful to still be alive, now on my 4th year without relapse. I am so looking forward to trying a pair of your prostheses."
From another happy recipient in Denmark:
"I hereby send you a heartfelt greeting and a very big thank you from a fellow breast cancer survisor, whom I, through YOU, have helped -
The short story is, that we have known each other since 1980. In 2002 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had one breast removed. In 2007 the same thing happened to my friend, after which we both had follow-up treatment.
My friend is a rather large-breasted woman, and for 7 long years she has suffered with neck and back pains because of the weight of the heavy prosthesis, she was using. I am a liaison person for breast-operated women and come often to the Mammography department at ***** hospital in *****. There one of the nurses gave me your prosthesis pattern. Immediately I thought of my friend and hurried to knit two prostheses for her. My intention was just for her to wear them at home or while gardening, but she is so happy with them, because they don't hurt her shoulders or back, that she now wears them very often. A direct quote to me from her: "I am so happy. It is the best thing, that has happened to me in 7 years"
Therefore I'm sending this mail and 1000 thanks from us both!"
